Why Body Butters Instead of Lotion?

It makes us a bit sad that a lot of people out there have never heard of organic body butters as an alternative to lotions. If that happens to be you, your skin simply doesn't know what it is missing.

So what is the difference? It all comes down to ingredients...

Lotions are mostly water - sometimes up to 70%!

Water is drying, so companies add moisturizing ingredients to counter this. Problem is, these moisturizers wear off quickly, leaving your skin as dry or even drier than before. This means you need to keep applying the lotion to soothe your dry skin.

Sometimes these other ingredients do not mix well together or with the water. There is also the issue of contamination. Since water easily becomes contaminated with bacteria and other microorganisms, preservatives must be used.

To counteract these issues, chemicals that have severe health concerns like phthalates and parabens are commonly used. They are difficult to avoid too, as they aren't always listed on the label. They frequently hide under the generic term "fragrances."

Body butters are mostly butters are oils and contain absolutely NO water.

The natural butters and oils we chose for our organic body butters penetrate deeply into the skin, leaving it nourished and conditioned. It makes your skin softer, smoother, and healthier.

These ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and jojoba oil have natural antimicrobial protection built right in. This means there is no need for added preservatives.

We never use artificial fragrances of any kind. Essential oils (also antimicrobial) are the only ingredients we use to add scent to our organic body butters.

We also rely on the natural scents in the ingredients themselves. Raw shea butter has a light, nutty scent. The beeswax bars add a lovely, light honey scent. The coconut oil can add a tropical coconut scent. And the raw cocoa butter imparts a decadent, rich chocolaty scent.

And we list ALL of the ingredients that are in our products. If you use our body care products, you'll never have to wonder what you are putting on your skin. We are very proud of our products and that is our guarantee to you.

Our Homemade Organic Body Butters

Our body butters are sold in 4-ounce glass jars. Certain plastics have health concerns, so we are being extra careful and avoiding all of them. Plus plastics tend to break down in the presence of essential oils.

Our body butters can be used all over your body. We recommend using it on your face before bed, so the ingredients have time to soak into your skin.

A little goes a LONG way, so use a very small amount when first applying.

Too much body butter applied to the skin will take a long time to absorb....although your skin will love it, you might not like the greasy feel. So be sure to use a small amount - this isn't like a water-based moisturizer where you really have to slather it on.

By unscented, we mean no added fragrance. This is for those people that have VERY sensitive skin. There is a slight nutty smell from the shea butter, but that is because it is a raw, unrefined butter.
